How it all began...

Puhuttiin ennen lomaa siitä, että kansainvälisillä perheillä Jyväskylässä voisi olla oma foorumi, ettemme lähettää liikaa sähköpostejä. Before the holidays I remember that some of us were talking about setting up some forum for the international families so that we can talk without filling up everybody's mailboxes.

I have played a bit on my computer, what do you think about this one? It is still in a very early stage, topics must be refined, explanations added - maybe in finnish as well - and my english is horrible, but maybe we could use it for a start?I am admin for some other forums and have been also for a long time on a german and british forum about Finland in general - thats were some of the topics have their origin from. Maybe they are quite useful for us here in JKL as well?In my opinion target group should be bicultural families as well as fully foreign families or even single foreigners (who sooner or later find their Finn, move here, get married and make kids, hahaha).

We could also make some entry page with information on our activities in general, meeting schedules, pictures and so on. I am also dreaming of having at some stage kind of "business cards" with basic information and the webaddress that we could give to foreigners with children we see in the streets. There are so many here nowadays and it would be great to get to know more of them!

At this point all the forums are open to everyone (like this it is easier to show to you guys), but later on we can require registration so that only members of the forum can see the content. This gives more privacy for our families and personal topics. Let me know what you think. Maia has given already some feedback on this, but probably it is the best if all of us develop it further.
